Snowmen

We made egg carton snowmen ornaments today. The boys had so much fun gluing the cotton into the egg cartons. I punched a hole on each side to run ribbon through so that we could hang them on our tree.

Here are our finished Frosties. I love how they look on our tree.

Thanksgiving & First Snow

We were so excited to see snow on Thanksgiving. It wasn't a lot, but enough to excite the boys. We are definitely ready for winter.

Pumpkin Craft

I found this cute idea here. She used apples, but I decided to make pumpkins for fall. I cut pumpkin shapes out of black construction paper and then cut out the inside. I taped a piece of contact paper onto the table, then stuck on all the pumpkins.
They boys had fun sticking the orange scrap pieces onto the pumpkins. This was a really easy, quick craft to make.
When they were finished, I placed another piece of contact paper on top and simply cut around each pumpkin. We now have our cute little pumpkins hanging in our windows just in time for Halloween.

Easy Halloween Decoration

We had some leftover pieces of wood lying around that the boys love to play with, but I decided to spray paint them and make some Halloween decorations. I got the idea here.
Here are my finished mummies and jack-o-lanterns. I think they're pretty cute!

My Fortune

We went out for my favorite Chinese tonight and this was in my fortune cookie. I could not believe it!
I posted it on my Facebook because it was just too funny. But I think my sister-in-law got it right when she commented, "Do you think it could be a hillbilly fortune...you know..search yer backyard fer the mower I barried last week. That kind of treasure?"

Pumpkin Patch

Big Brother went on his first kindergarten field
trip today to the Pumpkin Patch.
Baby Jaws came along for the fun.
The pumpkin patch.
These were the most mellow calves I've ever seen,
even with all the kids climbing all over to pet them.
The train ride was a favorite.
Best buds.

Pooh

Baby Jaws has been sharing his sippy cup with Pooh.
He has been helping Pooh go potty after he drinks too.
He also helps Pooh puke in the potty. You're lucky I don't have a picture of that one...yet.

Baked Salmon

We've been grilling salmon all summer, but last night I decided to try it baked. I haven't eaten a lot of salmon. I grew up on suckers, catfish and bass. All fried too! I never knew there was another way to eat fish until I met Hubs.

I placed the salmon skin side down in my baking dish and spread a little mayo over the top. I then added seasoned salt, lemon pepper seasoning and panko bread crumbs. Of course, I never measure anything. I baked it for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees and then broiled it for 4-5 minutes on low to get the panko crumbs browned nicely. I actually liked it a lot better than the grilled salmon we've been having.

Banana Muffins

We made banana muffins! I used this recipe. I followed the recipe, but left out the nuts and the granola. I also had enough batter to make 12 regular muffins and 24 mini muffins, plenty to freeze. Next time I make them, I'm going to add my Kashi Dark Chocolate Almond Granola cereal. Yum!

Root Beer Pulled Pork

I made root beer pulled pork a couple of days ago. I had never tried it before, but am so glad I did. It is so good! All I did was put a pork roast in my crock pot, poured about 12 oz. of root beer over it and let it cook on low for about 6 hours.

After it was done, I drained the root beer juices off and shredded the roast. Then I added a bottle of BBQ sauce and let it warm up about 30 more minutes. We ate it on hamburger buns and loved it!
I also made baked fries to go along with our pulled pork sandwiches. I just cut up russet potatoes, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with salt, pepper and McCormick's Garlic Herb Seasoning Blend. I don't remember how long it took to bake them. I baked them, as my mom would say, until they were done. They went along great with our sandwiches and it was a quick, easy meal.

Of Moons and Boobs

We had spaghetti for dinner tonight. I always make the boys put on their spaghetti-eating-shirts when we have it so that they don't stain their good shirts. Since Baby Jaws has been on a naked kick ("nay-nay" as he says) and runs around in nothing but a Pull-Up all day, Big Brother decided he would eat in nothing but his underwear. So we were eating dinner when I looked over and saw Big Brother's bare butt in the chair. He pulled his underwear up pretty quickly when I told him I was on my way to spank his little moon.

Later, Big Brother was taking a bath and I was helping him wash his hair. He reached down and touched his nipple, laughed and said, "I just touched my boob!"

I said, "Well, it's ok if you touch your boob."

I know for a fact that it was his Daddy's genes shining through when he said, "You have big ones!"

I laughed so hard that I could not breathe, then told Hubs that Big Brother was definitely his child.

Squeaky Clean

I just found a ball in the washing machine. I'm just glad it wasn't a diaper this time.

Letter Fun

Big Brother has been bringing his Poetry Folder home each Monday from school. He works on reading it and recognizing the words throughout the week and returns it on Friday.

Today I wanted to make it a little more fun for him. He loves playing with our Scrabble and UpWords games and had a great time spelling out all the sentences in his poem.

We play with all sorts of letters. We have many different sets of magnets, foam letters, stickers, games like Scrabble, UpWords and Boggle. Big Brother even loves playing with and eating Alpha Bits cereal. We use lots of letters because they are all just more fun ways for him to learn.
